Where is your faith? Do you really believe in your heart that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead? Faith is the victory that overcomes the world!
We preach Jesus Christ in the public places. Because that's what Jesus did himself. We don't want the proclamation of the gospel to be limited to small religious cliques. Christ died for all people and is willing to save whosoever calls upon Him.

SOUND DOCTRINE

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. Titus 1:9

Scripture references from the back of my Bible: These notes are published here on the web to be a blessing to students of the word of God. Please click on one of the following doctrinal key words to get to the scripture references explaining the subject. I will gradually add more doctrinal references, so please check on this page again soon.

Repentance
First mention: Gen. 6:5-8. Change of mind and heart leading to changed action. Under the flood = under the blood, Noah, ark of grace, three stories = threefold salvation, sealed (Gen. 7:16) = eternally secure, enter new world. Repentance + faith inseparably together for salvation, no repentless salvation possible (sinners are commanded to repent, those who are not convicted of their sin are impenitent and won't repent), Acts 17:30, 20:21, 2. Pe. 3:9, Mt. 21:29, Mt. 9:13, Acts 26:20, Ro. 2:4,5, 2. Cor. 7:10. See also testimony of Cornelius' salvation in Acts 10:43 & 11:18.
Music
Wrong music: Gen. 4:21, Ex. 32:17-25, Eccl. 2:8, Ezek. 33:32, Amos 6:5, Isa. 5:11,12. Note: Moses could tell that the people of Israel departed from God by listening to their music from afar in Ex. 32!
Satan is a musical being: Ezek. 26:13, 28:13. Descendants of murderer Cain were inventor of music instruments: Genesis 4.
Right music: Bible contains the songbook of Psalms! Music tells who is in control. God or Satan? Study Exodus 32. Moses could tell by the singing that the people departed from God and worshipped a golden calf. Study 2. Chronicles 23:13-18. Wicked queen Athaliah could tell by the music that she was no longer queen. The people were praising a king. Our music ought to praise our king - Jesus Christ. Consider the enormous amount of Christian hymns by writers such as Fanny Crosby, Martin Luther, Paul Gerhardt, Gerhard Tersteegen, Count Zinzendorf, John & Charles Wesley ... You won't find a hymnal with that amount of songs in worship of Allah, Bhudda and the other false gods. Study 1. Chronicles 15:25-16:43. People sing and praise God as their King. Only one person despises David for playing the right music!
Proper music: Eph. 5:18-20, Col. 3:16, 1. Cor. 14:26, Mt. 26:30. Godly music is connected with praise to God. Bible connects praise with strength: Mt. 21:16 & Psalm 8:2. Neh. 8:10. Psalm 118:14-16. Examples are found when Paul & Silas in jail: Acts 16:25. Numerous battles of Israel were won by praise, e. g., 2. Chron. 20:21-25. Praise is also connected to health & facial expression: Ps. 42:11, 43:5, Prov. 15:13. Heb 13:15. Knowing this it is logical why we abstain from worldly music because it alienates from God and can negatively affect - consciously or subconsciously - body, soul & spirit. Worldly music often incites rebellion, anger & depression instead of love, peace & joy. Thus, abstain.
Dress Standards
Related to doctrine of separation, holiness and worldliness. James 4:4, 1. Jn. 2:15-17, Ro. 12:2, 1. Pe. 1:14, 1. Pe. 2:9,11, Jn. 15:19. Word of God defines proper clothing not the world (society, fads, consumerism, social acceptability, Paris = lost people).
Principle of modesty: 1. Tim 2:9-10, 1. Pe. 3:3-5, 5:5. Opposite: Prov. 7:10.
Clothes are gender-specific: Deut. 22:5, 1. Cor. 11:3, Ex. 28:42,43 (breeches for men). Bible does not endorse modern unisex, gender mainstreaming tendencies. Jesus affirms in Mt. 19:4 that in the beginning God made them male and female.
Worldly (un)dress: Isa. 47:1-5, Isa. 3:16-26.
Clothes cover (conceal) and don't reveal: Gen. 3:7,10,11,21. Rev. 3:18, Ezek 16:8.
Example: Gadarene demoniac first in Lk. 8:27 (no clothes, acted wildly), then after deliverance in Lk. 8:35, "sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind".
Rev. 1:13 defines hemline and solves the problem of shorts. They are too short.
Clothes and covetousness: Joshua 7:11,21 (garment among stuff). Also Zeph. 1:8. Salvation is compared to a clothing in the Bible that covers all our sin. So our outward clothing style should correspond with our inward clothing. 2. Cor. 5:2 talks about being clothed upon with a redeemed body so we won't be found naked.
Dress speaks of, indicates identity. Discipleship encompasses every area of life. We do not separate doctrine from daily living. We are not subject to the dictates of fashion. Dress standards are an acid test to determine inner attitudes (rebellious wordly heart). We need to be separate enough to carry out the full will of God. Any display of wealth through clothing is an overt expression of pride. Nothing for pride's sake.
Preservation of Scriptures (King James Bible)
Ps. 12:6,7, 19:7,8, 33:4, 119:89,90, Mk. 13:31, Isa. 55:11, Jer. 1:12, 2. Tim. 1:14, Jude 3, Ps. 18:30, Prov. 30:5.
Purified 7 times: King James Bible is 7th being compared with 6 prior English translations.
Eccl. 8:4, authorized by a King. Psalm 16 begins with "Preserve" and ends in verse 11 with "for evermore. A hint to 1611?
Satan attempts to falsify the word of God: Gal. 3:1, Mt. 4:6, Mk. 4:15, 2. Cor. 2:17.
Rejecting the King James Bible means Bible is extinct, nonexistent, nonavailable, from hypothetical originals. No final authority. No verbal inspiration. Dependence on corrupt manuscripts and unsaved scholars with unsound motives.
Security of the Believer
God keeps the believer. Prov. 2:8, Jn. 10:27-29, Ro. 8:35-39, 11:29, 1. Cor. 1:8, Phil. 1:6, 2:13, 2. Thess. 3:3, 2. Tim. 4:18, 1. Pe. 1:5, 2. Pe. 1:3.
Jn 3:36, 1. Jn. 5:12, 13 indicate that a believers knows that he has (present tense) eternal life. If someone were to lose his salvation, that means he never would have had eternal life, but mere temporal life. Everlasting means unending. If you are born again, you can't be unborn and you won't die. Predestination means eternal security. Word predestine occurs 4x in Bible (Ro. 8:29,30, Eph. 1:5,11). 'Predestinated' means a believer who has received the earnest (down payment) of the Spirit is predestinated to the full redemption (adoption, redemption, new incorruptible body). 'Predestination' never meant that before the world began God picked out whom he will save and whom he will condemn. That is false doctrine. Just as God shut up the ark (Gen. 7:16), so the believer is sealed (Eph. 4:30). Did atonement of Christ secure eternal pardon for sinner or did it just put him on parole?
Can anyone be born again, then die again, then born again etc.?
Can anyone be a child of God, then a child of the devil, then a child of God again ...?
God deals with believers as SONS not criminals on parole (Heb. 12:7, Ro. 8:16). Sons will be chastised (Heb. 12:5-8, Ps. 89:27-35).
If my life is hid with Christ in God who is able to take it out of its hiding place?
Eternal life means eternal nor from now till I "fall from grace". Saved person can't outlive salvation.
1. Jn. 4:4 says greater is he that is within me not vice-versa.
God is not a liar. Man is.
Our God is faithful and true. That is why all the doctrines of the Bible are 100% right. Sorry, evolutionist, atheist, public opinion etc.
Deut. 7:9, 1. Ki. 8:24, 2. Chr. 6:15, Ps. 33:4, 36:5, 57:10, 89:34, 100:5, 108:4, 117:2, Dan. 9:4, Micah 7:20, Ro. 3:3,4, 15:8, 1. Cor. 1:9, 2. Tim. 2:13, Tit. 1:2, Is. 25:1, Deut. 32:4, Ps. 31:5, Num. 23:19.
The New Birth
The New Birth is a Necessity. John 3:3-7.
The New Birth is the communication of a new life, the implantation of a new nature by the Spirit of God.
Jn. 1:12,13, 2. Cor. 5:17, Tit. 3:5, 1. Pe. 1:3, 22-25, Gal. 6:15, Eph. 4:24, 2. Pe. 1:4, Gal. 2:20.
The New Birth is an instantaneous act of the Holy Ghost. It is also referred to as the Baptism by the Holy Ghost in 1. Cor. 12:13. Here the Spirit is the baptizer. Salvation is a spiritual baptism. Water baptism is an outward type of the inward change wrought by the Spirit of God.
Note: "Water" in John 3:5 does not refer to water baptism. That is false doctrine. The context (Jn. 3:6) makes clear that the expression "born of water" refers to the physical natural birth. Thus, this passage contrasts the natural and the spiritual birth. This explains the Bible truth: If you are born once, you will die twice. If you are born twice, you will die only once.
Age/condition of responsibility.
Man is a free moral agent who is responsible for his decisions including the decision to either receive of reject Christ. John 3:19-21, 36.
But what happens when a young child dies before it is able to get saved?
Are children innocent? No, but children are ignorant. Children are sinners from the moment they are born, but due to their ignorance they are not held accountable for their sin until they know. Then they must repent and turn to God for salvation. Those who have reached the age of accountability will be convicted of their sin. Only Jesus Christ can remove the guilt.
Ps. 58:3, Lev. 5:3, Deut. 1:39, Num. 14:29-31, James 4:17, Romans 5:13.
Note: David was confident that he would see his dead infant again. The infant was not saved in the sense of "born again", but safe in the sense that sin is not imputed. 2. Sam. 12:23.
Dispensations
The word 'dispensation' is used 4 times in the Bible: 1. Cor. 9:17, Eph. 1:10, Eph, 3:2, Col. 1:25.
It means household, administration, stewardship or economy. As we study the Bible we learn to rightly divide between different dispensations (2. Tim 2:15) or else we get confused about supposed contradictions, mix up what does not belong together and end up with a doctrinal hodgepodge.
In a dispensation God dispenses a certain people with a responsibility and holds this people accountable for their stewardship.
God dealt differently with Adam and Eve in Eden than with the people of the antediluvian world. God deals differently with people in this current dispensation of grace than he dealt with Israel in the Old Testament. God will deal differently with people in the millennium than he dealt with people in other dispensations.
Those who study the different dispensations in the Bible soon understand that the idea that "the way of salvation has been the same from Genesis to Revelation" is a traditional myth. They way of salvation has been progressively revealed and only in this dispensation has this mystery (Ro. 16:25, Eph. 3:3,4, Eph. 6:19, Col. 1:26,27) been fully uncovered insomuch that the apostle Paul calls it "my gospel" (Ro. 2:16, 16:25).
Those who study dispensations will discover that the New Testament technically does not begin at Mt. 1:1. That is only the literary beginning.Technically, the New Testament does not become effective until the death of Christ on the cross because of Hebrews 9:16,17. So the gospels and the book of Acts comprise a transitional time from law to grace and from Israel to the church. There is not a church until Acts 2. There is not a saved Gentile until Acts 10. There was a special time for signs, miracles and wonders since the Jews require a sign, which went out of existence after the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed and the time of Jewish dispersion began.
The fact that God divides time into dispensations can also be seen when you study all references of "times & seasons". Da. 2:21, Mt. 21:41, Acts 1:7, 1. Thess. 5:1. Watch expressions such as "signs of the times", "in due times", "last times", "times of refreshing", "times of restitution", "times of the Gentiles", "perilous times" or "fulness of times". To say the least: We as Bible believers are asked by the Lord Jesus to know the signs of the times. Mt. 16:3. If you do not rightly divide the word of God, you will not come out with sound doctrine.
What a saved person can lose.
Note: Since a truly born again Christian is predestinated to be conformed to the image of the Son of God (clothed upon with a glorified body), he cannot lose his salvation.
However, a saved person ...
- will reap what he sows (Gal. 6:7). He will not get away with sin. Sin will find him out. He will not evade the consequences of bad choices.
- will be chastened and whipped by a loving heavenly Father, since the children of God are no bastards. Heb. 12:5-11, 1. Cor. 11:32.
- can lose rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. 1. Cor. 3:15. 2. John 8. Believers will be judged for their stewardship (works, faithfulness). Mt. 24:45 - 25:30. Note: Dispensationally, we have to differentiate between the Judgment Seat of Christ (believers rewarded for works), the judgment of nations at Christ's Throne of Glory in the millennium (Mt. 25:31-46) and the Great White Throne Judgment of the wicked dead (Rev. 20:11-15) at the end of the millennium.
- can lose his millennial inheritance (Lk. 19:11-27, 2. Tim. 2:12)
- can lose his health (1. Cor. 11:30).
- can lose his joy. Joy comes through the Holy Ghost (Ro. 14:17, 15:13, Gal. 5:22). So quenching or grieving the Spirit or walking after the flesh instead of after the Spirit will diminish the joy of faith (Phil. 1:25).
- can lose his ministry, reputation & influence (1. Cor. 9:27).
- can lose his life (1. Cor. 11:30, Acts 5, 1. John 5:16-18).
Jesus is God. Christ's divinity.
In the Bible Jesus is called God.
Mt. 1:22,23; Jn. 1:1-3; Jn. 10:30,33; Jn. 20:28; Acts 20:28; Ro. 9:5; 1. Cor. 8:12; 2. Cor. 5:19; 1. Tim. 3:16; Tit. 1:3; Heb. 1:8-10; 1. Jn. 1:1,2; 1. Jn. 5:20; Ps. 45:6; Is. 9:6.
Turn your Bible to Titus 3:4-6 and note that it says "God our Savior" (v. 4) and "Jesus Christ our Saviour" (v. 6). Those who deny Christ's divinity would end up with 2 saviors. That's heresy. Christ is Savior because He is God. See Isaiah 43:10,11, Isaiah 44:6 (compare that with Rev. 1:8), Isaiah 45:21.
Warning: Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons are two heretical organizations that deny Christ's divinity and make him a mere man. 1. John 4:1-4! 2. John 7!
Paradise and the old testament saints.
In Gen. 2:8,9 paradise was located on earth. Note: Eden means pleasure. Paradise means park. It refers to the garden of Eden, a place of happiness. In the midst of it is the tree of life. Ezek. 28:13 and Rev. 21 indicate that Eden and paradise are the same.
From Luke 23:43 and Mt. 12:40 we conclude that after the fall of man paradise is located in the heart of the earth. This place is described more indepth in Lk. 16:22-29. There is Adam's bosom (paradise) and there is hell on the opposite separated from each other by a great gulf.
The following scriptures also indicate that hell is located in the center of earth: Ezek. 31:14,16; Ezek. 32:18,24; Ps. 63:8; Ps. 86:13; Ps 88:6; Isa. 44:23. Note: hell and pit are :down".
The righteous dead in Old Testament days went to the paradise section in the heart of the earth. In 1. Sam. 28:11-15 Samuel had to come up. The woman saw "gods ascending out of the earth". Fact is: There is something going on inside the earth.
The Old Testament saints did not directly go to heaven because God is holy and these saints were not redeemed. Their sins were covered, but Christ had not yet come to take those sins away. The blood Christ was not yet applied.
When Christ died on the cross He went to the paradise section of hell in the heart of the earth. See Acts 2:27,31. There Christ preached to the spirits in prison. See 1. Peter 3:19. So the Old Testament saints went to a holding place called paradise/Abraham's bosom in the heart of the earth and when Christ died on the cross He came to them to deliver them. See Eph. 4:8-10 and Galatians 4:4,5. Then mark Mt. 27:51-54. When Christ redeemed the OT saints some of them were seen in the holy city!
As of now paradise is no longer in the heart of the earth. Paradise is located in the 3rd heaven. See Rev. 2:7 & 2. Cor. 12:3,4. That is where the tree of life is located. The tree of life is mentioned in Rev. 22:2 as being located in the new heaven & new earth in the new Jerusalem.
Old Testament saints were not born again. They were saved by faith and had to bring sacrifices that were typical of the sacrifice of the perfect lamb of God, Christ Jesus. But these sacrifices in the Old Testament could not take away sin. See Hebrews 9 & 10. That's why Old Testament saints had to go to a holding place until Christ's blood was applied. Heb. 12:24.
Saved people who die in this present dispensation of grace immediately go to paradise in the presence of Jesus Christ. Phil. 1:23, 2. Cor. 5:8.
The Rapture
What is the Rapture? The Lord Jesus will come again to take His bride, the church, to Himself before the time of tribulation. The Rapture is a translation (similar to Enoch and Elija), i. e. the physical removal of people from earth into the presence of the Lord.
See 1. Thess. 4:13-18, 1. Cor. 15:51-57. Those who die in Christ will rise again, but those who are alive when Christ returns will not die, but be changed and caught up to be with the Lord. This is made plain in Phil. 3:11-14, John 11:25,26, 2. Cor. 5:1-4. So there are "resurrection saints" (those who died and rose first, 1. Thess. 4:16) and there are "translation saints" (those who were alive at Christ's coming and never died, 1. Thess. 4:17). Note the same distinction at Christ's transfiguration where the glorified Christ was accompanied by Moses (resurrection saint) and Elija (translation saint).
Rapture in Revelation: Revelation 1-3 deals with Christ's preeminence in the church. Rev. 4 is the Rapture ("Come up hither!") when the Lord calls out the church. Rev. 5 takes place in heaven. From Revelation 6 to 18 the church is not mentioned. These chapters describe the time of Tribulation (Daniel's 70th week, see Dan. 9), which is also called the time of Jacob's trouble (Jeremiah 31). During this time the book sealed with seven seals will be opened and the wrath of God will be poured on the earth. This is God's dealing with Israel and the wicked Christ-rejecting nations. Israel will get saved at the end of this time (Ro. 11 esp. verses 25-27). Church does not go through this particular tribulation because it is not appointed unto wrath. 1. Thess. 5:9,10.
2. Thess. 2:1 refers to the Rapture. The rest of the chapter outlines the time of tribulation and informs the born again believer what he will be saved from.
2. Thess. 2:6,7 talk about the Holy Ghost who now withholdeth the revelation of the man of sin. But the Holy Ghost will be taken out of the way. The Holy Ghost is what forms the church, the body of Christ (1. Cor. 12:13). So when the church is caught up, the Holy Ghost will be taken out as well.
Rapture is foreshadowed in the Old Testament. Moses took a Gentile bride (type of church) while Israel was going through tribulation (slavery) in Egypt (Ex. 2). Joseph (a type of Christ) took a Gentile bride (a type of the church) while Israel went through tribulation (famine). Gen. 41. Henoch was translated before the flood, while Noah went through the flood in an ark. Even in the book of Psalms there are descriptions of a "Rapture" experience: Ps. 18:7-20 (note: there is something appearing in the sky, there is some form of pavilion, and in v. 19 the psalmist is delivered into a large place). Similar descriptions can be found in Psalm 27 & 31. Note also that there is a trump and a shout when the Lord descends to take out his church. Compare 1. Thess. 4:16 with Psalm 47:5, 2. Sam. 6:15 (ark brought UP = saints caught UP), Ex. 19:10-16 (on the morning of the third day, people come UP at the sound of the trumpet).
Healthy Middle
The Bible teaches the principle of moderation and sufficiency. The Lord does not endorse excess. Nor does the Lord want you to suffer lack. The idea that "more" is "better" is unscriptural. The modern idea of "more, bigger, better" is an ungodly foolishness. Instead, you need to be in the healthy middle of sufficiency.
  • Moderation in all things: Phil. 4:5.
  • Lifestyle of excess to be avoided: Mt. 23:25, Eph. 5:18, 1. Pe. 4:3,4. Excess connected with the habits of the ungodly.
  • Avoiding the pitfall of being rich or poor: Prov. 30:8,9. Study the meaning of "convenient"!
  • Too much of a good thing is not good! Compare Prov. 24:13, 25:16, 25:27. Note: Honey is good, but too much of it is not good for you. The balance is that you eat to so much as is sufficient. Going beyond sufficiency is excess.
  • Holy Ghost helps believers to be temperate. Thus, temperance is a fruit of the Spirit. Gal. 5:23. Through temperance a Christian can exercise discipline/self-control. Temperance avoids excess and selfishness. Acts 24:25, 2. Pe. 1:6. The Bible command is "temperate in all things". 1. Cor. 9:25, Tit. 1:8, 2:2.
  • Equality in the church. 2. Cor. 8:13-15. The abundance of some believers supplies the want of other believers, so that through the grace of giving an equality is maintained. That's how needs are met among believers. 2. Cor. 8-10 suggests the practice that today is often called "faith promise" in order to supply the needs of missionaries to spead forth the gospel. Study also: Acts 2:45, 4:34 (nobody lacked!), 1. Tim. 6:17-19, Phil. 4:10-19 (the oft-quited verse 19 stands in the context of missions giving!).
The World
  • "For God so loved the world ..." John 3:16. Since God is love (1. John 4:8), he revealed his love by giving His only begotten Son. God's love brought us salvation in Jesus Christ. True love is a giving, sacrifial love (study 2. Thess. 2:16, Gal. 2:20, 2. Cor. 8:8,24, Eph. 5:25 - love/give).
  • "Love not the world ..." 1. John 2:15-17. We should not love this world and its things. Why? These things draw us away from God and this world and its fashion is going to pass away. It is all temporal. Study 1. John 2:17, 1. Cor. 7:31.
  • Christians are in the world, but not of the world. Study John 15:18-25 & John 17.
  • Therefore, Christians are not to be a friend of the world. See James 4:4. Instead, Christians are in the world to be a light - the light of the world. See Mt. 5:14-16, John 8:12, 1:4,5,9, 9:5, 12:35,36, 46. Jesus Christ is the true Light of the world. Since Christ dwells within the believer through the Holy Ghost, believers also shine forth the light of the world.
  • Without Christ, the world is in darkness and wickedness. Jesus Christ brought light into the world. See 1. John 5:19. Satan is the god of this world. 2. Cor. 4:4. This present world is an evil world. Gal. 1:4. Therefore, worldliness is to be avoided. The Christian is taught by the grace of god to deny worldly lusts. Titus 2:12.
  • When Christians are a light in this world, they will be hated by the world because this world loved darkness rather than light. John 3:19-21, 17:14.
  • The word is above the world. This world was created by the word of God (Gen. 1:3, John 1:1-3, Col. 1:16, Heb. 11:3), however this present world will pass away because sin has entered in, but the word of God will never pass away. Mt. 24:35, Heb. 1:11.
  • Since this world is passing away, it is unwise to set one's affections on it. Our affections need to be on things above (Col. 3:1,2), where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
  • Separation: What communion hath light with darkness? See. 2. Cor. 6:14-16. Some people think it is a contradiction or conflict in scripture that Christians are in the world, but should be separate from the world. To clarify this let us repeat: We are IN the world, but NOT OF the world. This world is in DARKNESS, but in this world we are to be a LIGHT. We are not in the world in order to partake of or befriend the darkness, but to be a counterpoint to the surrounding darkness. Check out Phil. 2:15, Eph. 5:7,11-14, Romans 13:12, 1. Thess. 5:4-8, James 1:27).
  • 2. Peter 3:10-15 explains the passing of this present world and the arrival of the world to come, a new heaven and a new earth. See description in Rev 21, 22. The Bible frequently speaks of the "end of the world". But there is a new world coming for the redeemed. Check out Heb. 2:5, 6:5.
  • Those who have received the gift of eternal life (Ro. 6:22,23) are aware that only a very short span of their life will be spent in this world. The best is yet to come. That's why we need to live as strangers and pilgrims on this earth (Heb. 11:13, 1. Pe. 2:11). Therefore, it is unwise to be overly affected, controlled, motivated by the earthly things. See Lk. 12:16-34, 1. Tim. 6:6-8.

Submission, Subjection
Definition (Strong's Concordance, Webster 1828): yield to, be under obedience, the act of yielding to power or authority; surrender of the person and power to the control or government of another; obedience; compliance with the commands or laws of a superior; resignation; a yielding of one's will to the will or appointment of a superior without murmuring.
Opposite of pride, arrogancy, rebellion, stubbornness. Prov. 8:13, 11:2, 13:10, 16:18, 18:12.
Submission is a practical manifestation of humility. These are indispensable duties of Christians:
  • Believers to God: James 4:7.
