Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 150:6
Singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs brings us closer to the Lord. Sound Christian songs, that are not tainted by modern worldliness, teach and admonish us, so that the word of Christ dwells within us richly. Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16.
These are the songs of victory! Worldly music often leads to rebellion, aggression, depression, suicide, wicked emotions, etc. But the songs of praise toward God lead toward victory even in times of tribulation. Paul and Silas praised and sang to God at night in jail and got deliverance. Acts 16:25. When Moses led Israel through the Red Sea and saw the Egyptians perishing, he sang a song of victory. Exodus 15. When the children of Ammon and Moab attacked Judah, the king appointed singers to walk before the army. When they began singing - Praise ye the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever. - the Lord gave Judah victory over those enemies! Hymns From My Childhood
I am not a professional singer, but I sing because the Lord has put it on my heart and the word of God encourages me to sing. The following songs are a precious memory of growing up in rural Germany. These a capella songs are my comfort and strength.
